Búzios

The city of Armação dos Búzios or just Búzios as it is known, is located in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro approximately 110 miles from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The touristic Búzios basically is a peninsula with about 6 miles long. The city has 23 beaches in total. All of them are beautiful and each one has its specific characteristics. Some have direct and easy access, such as those next to the Pousada, while others the right to enjoy a piece of paradise will have to be earned.

Throughout the year Búzios has around 260 days of sunshine. The remainder is divided between rainy and cloudy days. Watching the sunset from several different beaches is something that you can enjoy in Búzios. The city has the lowest rainfall in the entire state of Rio de Janeiro. It is also a city of winds. Famous for hosting one of the best beaches for windsurfing in the world, the Manguinhos Beach. The average temperature is 24° Celsius (75F). During the summer temperatures reach 30° Celsius (86F).

The tourist vocation of the city began with the visit of the French actress Brigitte Bardot in 1964. From there on Búzios won a huge international exhibition and today is the fifth most searched tourist destination in Brazil. Some even call it “A Saint-Tropez Brasileira”.

The City-Peninsula is a charming seaside resort with intense nightlife, good shopping options and diverse and delicious gastronomy. Undoubtedly the main attraction of the city during the day is the beach.

After arriving in the city the visitor should look at the local map and decide which beach to visit first. The beaches located near downtown and those towards the “tip” of the Peninsula are of mandatory visitation, especially if the visitor has little time. The Ossos, Azeda and Azedinha beaches are within walking distance of our location. Nearby are also João Fernandes, João Fernandinho and Praia Brava.

Also in the downtown area is the famous Rua das Pedras. A small street of rustic pavement, where famous boutiques, ateliers, restaurants and bistros, with their own hours mix with the sea, the fishermen and the tranquility of a small town.

The visitor can also be surprised during their stay with a jazz festival, a gastronomic festival or a “luau” on any beach. Búzios contrary to what many think it is not only summer, Búzios is guaranteed fun all year round!
